When to Go to This Region in 2026
The magic of the mysterious mangroves of this region, the tidal creeks and elusive wildlife can only be revealed in the right season. Knowing the best months for your wildlife safari will help you explore better, and that’s why. Generally, the best months to visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site are between October and March. The weather is cool and refreshing at this time, which makes the boat rides just a little more comfortable. As the winter settles down, wildlife sightings get better.
April and May are hot and humid but have their own special charm. The boat safaris in the early morning and late afternoon become ever more beautiful and surreal with the increasing temperature. The heat during this period attracts more animals to water bodies, which means there are more chances of seeing wildlife.
The monsoon holds sway in this region from June to September. Greenery is enchanting, but torrential rains, swollen rivers and unpredictable tides can play havoc with the boat safari. So not the best time to see a tiger and in fact many areas are closed to entry during these months.
What Total of Time Do You Need? Popular Travel Durations
Now that you’ve got an idea of when the best time to visit is, the next big question is: How long should your trip be? It really depends on how far you want to go in the mangroves and how much time you have to spend.
Here are the most typical choices that travelers usually choose:
3 Day Deep Jungle Safari: This is the best choice if you want to soak up the silence of the forest. It takes you deep into core areas giving you the best chance to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger and other wildlife while you relax on the boat.
2-Day Weekend Break A brief escape from the city life. It covers the must-see watchtowers like Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali and a delightful village walk to experience local culture.
1-Day Quick Trip: If you really don’t have time, but don’t want to miss the adventure, a day trip is a great way to get an idea of this mangrove beauty. You will do the main river routes and still have a chance for some animal sightings.

The Budget Guide
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is “Is this safari expensive?” The truth is, it depends on your style of travel. The costs are a little different to a regular hill station or beach holiday as the whole safari is on boats and forest permits are involved.
Here is a rough idea of how we break down the costs:
Group Tours on the Cheap: If you are traveling alone or with a small family, group tours are the cheapest way to travel. You share the boat and the guide and that cuts the cost down significantly but you get all the adventure.
Private & Custom Trips If you want the boat to yourself or have a specific bird-watching photography plan, a private tour is the way to go. It’s a bit more expensive but the flexibility you receive is worth every penny.
What Sets the Price? Depending upon whether you choose an AC or Non-AC room and the number of days you will stay in the forest will majorly decide your final budget.
My tip: always search for “all inclusive” packages. We include food, forest permits and boat hire all in one price so you don’t have to keep dipping into your wallet for hidden fees every ten minutes.
